  • The Intimacy Dance Theatre Project IDTP (an ongoing exploration of intimacy in performance)

          Project History:

This exploration began with Mercier's studies at Smith College in Playwriting and Physical Theatre. Five performances and one training initiative were created  in collaboration with other artists in his two years at SMITH:
-THE ANNIVERSARY: a one act play exploring mental health, suicide, love, and water.
-INTO THE UNKNOWN, Life Unfolding: an improvisational dance performance.
-HAVE LADDER AFRAID OF HEIGHTS: a clown and dance performance with central themes of community and trust.
-Ode and the Arts: an improvisational dance performance open to the public.
-THE LONELY SOLDIER PROJECT: an adapted docudrama (Valley Advocate Article here)

-TBD@MIDNIGHT was an ongoing training initiative held in conjunction with the class Mercier was teaching at Smith College. This training initiative was an open physical theatre workshop held for twenty six consecutive weeks. TBD@MIDNIGHT was held from 10:00PM to past the hour of 12:00AM. Each week different themes were researched and then put into practice in that week's training. Each participant was invited and encouraged to do personal research and explore the themes presented, as a means to explore and deepen one's own physical artistry. Mercier was invited to teach and explore this research with students at Hampshire College through a Master Class: Intimacy Through the Physicality of the Performer
